Plooma's Functionality

As an author, how do I organize all my scattered notes and worldbuilding ideas in one place?

With Plooma, you can create profiles for both characters and worlds, keeping every detail linked directly to your story.

- To create a world profile: go to the Worlds tab, click New World, and record geography, cultures, rules, and histories.
- To create a character profile: open the Characters tab in the World’s section, click New Character, and fill in traits like backstory, relationships, abilities, and quirks.

All profiles are automatically connected to your draft, so you can reference them while writing. This replaces scattered notebooks and sticky notes with a single organized system.

What’s the easiest way to track characters in a novel draft so they don’t contradict?

Once you’ve added a character to your world or draft, Plooma automatically tracks them when you perform a chapter analysis.
Once you have run the analysis, you will see in the side panel:
- every character mentioned in the current chapter, and
- each character profile which stores physical descriptions, personalities, skills, and motivations.

If the character doesn’t appear in a chapter, you can search their profile anytime from the Worlds section.
No matter how you access the character profile, you always have a source of truth for each character, preventing contradictions and keeping details consistent across your story.

How do I find and fix plot holes without rewriting everything?

Plooma’s built-in analysis tools can highlight possible gaps for you. There are two stages in the book analysis: stage one is performing a chapter analysis, and stage two is a whole book analysis.

1. Chapter Analysis → On the completion of a chapter, select a chapter, and perform the chapter analysis function. Plooma will generate a summary, along with notes on what works well, character analysis, areas for Improvement, and possible inconsistencies.

2. Book Analysis → On the completion of your entire book, run the book analysis function. This setting works best with a nearly finalised manuscript. It reviews the entire manuscript, checking world logic, timelines, and character consistency, and flags potential plot holes.

Because your timelines, notes, and worldbuilding live in one workspace, fixing gaps usually means adjusting and fine-tuning small sections of text - not rewriting entire sections.

I keep losing character backstories and notes. What’s a better way to stay organized?

Each character in Plooma has a dedicated profile where you can record:
- Physical Description
- Personality
- Skills & Abilities

All information stays attached to the character, so you’ll never lose track of their details. Whenever you’re writing, simply open the profile to refresh your memory or update it as your story grows.

Can Plooma provide me with all my editing tools in one place?

Yes. Plooma combines planning, writing, and editing into a single platform so everything you need to bring your text to life is built into one workspace:

1. Worldbuilding & Character Design → Linked directly with your manuscript.
2. Scene and Chapter Analysis → Feedback on pacing, engagement, and style.
3. Whole-Book Analysis → Holistic review of structure, plot threads, and consistency.
4. Spelling & Grammar Checks → Catch typos and grammar issues instantly.
5. AI Assist Features → Dictionary lookups, suggested improvements, tone checks, and writing prompts.
6. Statistics & Word Usage → Track pacing, repetition, and sentence patterns.
7. Version Control → Save and compare different drafts.
8. Export Options → Download your manuscript in publisher-ready formats (Word, PDF, ePub, etc.).

What tool can help me escape the chaos of Google Docs, sticky notes, and notebooks?

To escape scattered tools, Plooma centralizes your writing process:

1. Create one project for each novel.
2. Store all characters, worlds, and notes inside the project.
3. Write your chapters in the editor, where you can cross-reference everything as you go.

This structure means you never have to switch between Docs, notebooks, and sticky notes. Everything is already linked and searchable in Plooma.

How do I deal with writer's block?

Plooma helps you work past writer’s block by breaking your story into small, easy-to-engage-with pieces, including:

- Use Scene Summaries to focus only on the next small section of writing.
- Turn to the AI Assist for prompts, suggestions, or rephrasings when you feel stuck.
- Track your visible progress - seeing chapters and arcs fill in often clears the fog.

By keeping your draft organized and your steps manageable, Plooma helps you stay focused and get the words flowing again
